ARE YOU A GHETTO JEW ?

You can take the Jew out of the Ghetto but you cant…..

It’s been some two hundred years since Europe’s Jews first walked out of the Ghettos of Venice, Frankfurt, Rome, and a myriad of European cities, fleeing the foul-smelling narrow streets and alleyways that had been their virtual prison.

A disenfranchised people an exhausted people and yet two century’s later their children’s children were building the dream of three thousand years.

They were returning ‘Home’ to the borders of Israel. Never in our entire history has there ever been a miracle quite like it for audacity.

Exodus 1947

Fast forward to 2018 and one may well ask oneself why more than 7,000,000, Jews choose to live in the diaspora while rejecting the Jewish State their natural home.

One answer, may lie in prejudice and self-seeking motives, not to mention outright ignorance of what it is to be a Jew and with compromised leadership that so often misleads the people, what hope have they of realising their Jewish Destiny.

A Misguided People…

Faint-hearted people make kaddish for Hamas terrorists killed while attempting to breach Israel’s sovereign border, faint-hearted people distort the true facts, content to criticise the Jewish State for the disproportionate force.

Faint-hearted people choose to be ‘Ghetto Jews’ while refusing to live as proud Jews in the Jewish Land.

To be a Proud Jew

Today there are Jews living in the diaspora who by means of arguments, question the right of the Jewish State to exist. Their purpose is to destroy the Jewish connection to the Land of Israel.

They will not succeed in their bitter campaign regardless of their growing numbers as the ‘G-d of Israel ordained that Israel is the only country where all the Jewish People are to live as a ‘United People’.

It’s Time to Get Out!

Prolonging our existence in the exile is contrary to a Jews nature. To do so would be to court disaster.

The Experience of Our Nation Confirms all that’s Written Here

The refusal of our Jewish leadership to take positive steps to encourage Aliyah can’t go on indefinitely without engendering catastrophic consequences for the Jews of the Diaspora.

Our recent past demands ending the exile and making every effort to move to Israel.

The Rambam wrote the following in his letter of Forced Conversion:

“However, those who seduce themselves and say that they will stay in their places until the Messianic king comes to the lands of the West, and then they will depart and go forth to Jerusalem – I don’t know how the decree of destruction will be kept from them. Rather, they are transgressors, and they cause others to sin…”

To free the Jew from his ‘Ghetto Mentality’

We will need Leaders who possess very different temperaments from those held by the vast majority of leaders in the diaspora, imbued with objectivity and perspective and the ability to translate their thoughts into action.

We urgently require leadership that is unafraid to speak the truth to an unresponsive and at times hostile Jewish audience.

This is not a time for conventional leadership, espousing the empty platitudes and long discredited strategies, that have not worked in the past and that will fail in the future regardless of wishful thinking.

This is a time for extraordinary individuals to stand up and take responsibility for our people’s destiny. They will need to be larger than life champions of the Jewish people.

If we need an example of Jewish leadership, we need not look any further than to draw inspiration from the life of Rabbi Meir Kahane, of blessed memory.

Jewish Leadership

The Rabbi dedicated his life to bringing the Jewish People back to the Land of Israel and paid the ultimate price with his precious blood.

Much of what Rabbi Meir Kahane taught has come to pass, word for word in our times. Who then can remain indifferent before the facts? Only those absorbed in the false promises of the non-Jewish world.

I leave those faint hearts with a word of warning, persist in your indifference to your and your children’s fate, you will find yourself debased and humiliated in a land not your own.

Ludwig I of Bavaria, Holy Roman Emperor 1314 to 1347, defined the Jews’ status that was to be the ‘Ghetto Jew’: “You are our body and possession, We may make, do and deal with you as it pleases Us.”

There is an alternative. ‘Come Home Now!’

Yosef Yigal Drever and Sylvia Drever co-founded Achdut HaLev in 2006 to reach out to the Jewish community's around the world providing support in learning Torah and promoting the 'Return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel.' Yosef Yigal made Aliya in 2014 while Sylvia his wife is an Israeli. In late 2014 Achdut HaLev concentrated all its resources towards Aliya and the rebuilding of Eretz Yisrael. Excluding none and embracing all. The commandment to settle the Land of Israel is equal in importance to all the Torah Commandments all together: (Sifri Deut 12:29)
