A Clear National Goal Should Arise From The Ashes Of Gaza!

If October 7 2023, should teach Israel anything, it’s that we, as a country, are not normal. We are surrounded by a hostile world that would rather put up a monument to the Jewish state’s annihilation than have to face a Jewish success story. The problem for Israel is a lack of clear national goals for which it must be prepared to sacrifice everything in its pursuit. Unfortunately, Israel has lost its goals in the pursuit of Western values that are narcissistic, morally corrupt and culturally suicidal. As a result, national goals have become blurred, almost unrecognisable from the early Zionist years. This is a national catastrophe.

As we enter Gaza, determined to wreak vengeance on the butchers of more than 1,400 Jews and 5,400 wounded, as well as 243 men, women and babies kidnapped and taken hostage to be used as pawns by the vile Arabs of Hamas. Israel needs to rediscover its Jewish pride, and that can only happen when the nation casts off the last vestiges of the exile and educates its young on what it means to be a Jew.

They must be taught the Torah and the Jewish history of the Land of Israel. They need to know Jews have been a part of this country since biblical times. They must come to realise our attachment to the land of Israel is synonymous with our Jewish identity. If we fail to achieve this goal, we will sink further into doubt about whose land this is, and our purpose will continue to erode. However, the fact we are Jews will not allow us to just disappear from the world stage.

That’s why the current conflict on Israel’s southern and northern borders must be prosecuted resolutely and without pandering to foreign self-interest or homemade concessions to a determined enemy.

Our people must embrace the Jewish State and be proud of it and proud that they are Jewish. We cannot afford to absorb Arab attacks on our sovereign territory whenever they feel like pulling the Jewish tail. This is a result of us forgetting who we are. We must insist on the state’s Jewish character and authentic Jewish values. Providing our people the internal strength through a national vision that started with Avraham Avinu, our forefather, 3,000 years ago. Now, we must rise to the challenge and finish what Avraham Avinu started.

Yosef Yigal made Aliya in 2014 while Sylvia his wife is an Israeli. In late 2014 Achdut HaLev concentrated all its resources towards Aliya and the rebuilding of Eretz Yisrael. Excluding none and embracing all. The commandment to settle the Land of Israel is equal in importance to all the Torah Commandments all together: (Sifri Deut 12:29)
