A Desperate Call for Leadership

With some 8 million Jews currently living in the Diaspora, the call to return Home appears to be falling on deaf ears. One of the reasons for this phenomenon can be seen in the failure of Jewish leadership to lead the debate on the obligation for Jews to make Aliya. The vast majority of leaders’ silence on this issue contributes overwhelmingly to deceiving and misleading the people to choose the Diaspora over Eretz Israel condemning them to crises and failures on a massive scale.

The Jewish people are unaware of the dimensions of the coming upheavals in Europe, and the Americas lulled as they are into a false sense of security due in most part to a leadership that has so far shown a lack of urgency necessary for combating the ignorance most Jews feel towards their role in ending the Exile today, not in some far off mystical tomorrow.

Only by returning to the Land can Jews determine their destiny, their fate, and their future. Instead, they are fed a diet of false promises of a Jewish future full of happiness by their leaders in the Diaspora, when in fact, they are being dragged towards destruction and annihilation.

Its foolishness to ignore the reality and nurture futile visions that died with the six million at the hands of those who Diaspora leadership would embrace to their shame. Yet these leaders fail to tell the people the bare truth about the grave crisis in which they are descending and at the same time refuse to declare Aliya to Israel as the only possibility of its continuing existence.

The ignorance of the truth, together with the futile hope of a future in the Diaspora demands a desperate call for leadership committed to our children’s return to their borders.

Yosef Yigal Drever and Sylvia Drever co-founded Achdut HaLev in 2006 to reach out to the Jewish community's around the world providing support in learning Torah and promoting the 'Return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel.' Yosef Yigal made Aliya in 2014 while Sylvia his wife is an Israeli. In late 2014 Achdut HaLev concentrated all its resources towards Aliya and the rebuilding of Eretz Yisrael. Excluding none and embracing all. The commandment to settle the Land of Israel is equal in importance to all the Torah Commandments all together: (Sifri Deut 12:29)
