America Israel a Defining Moment in the Relationship!
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinkens’ visit to Israel this week raises many questions about the ongoing viability of the Special Relationship. While America has interfered in Israeli politics and used its influence to mould policies that suit American interests in the past. This week was a watershed in U.S. manipulation of Israeli society.
When Blinken suggested to Prime Minster Binyamin Netanyahu that the Biden administration would not look kindly on his government implementing Judicial reform and that any such move to do so would jeopardise future relations between the two countries.
This was a blatant attack upon Israel’s sovereignty, and should the Jewish State succumb to America’s threats, it would be nothing less than a political coup.
In a blink of an eye, Blinken has thrown out the normative rules that should govern intercourse between sovereign states. The Secretary of State has used the sentiment of “knowing one’s place” to bully Israel into acquiescence.
America is moving towards losing its principles and power through mismanagement, until finally, before becoming their own tyrant, they lose the spirit of liberty and fall into the weakness of license. We are witnessing today the hollowing out of the United States Republic.
Israel has the capacity to defy America’s pressure if its leaders show the willpower to overcome the complexities presented to them. They will need to defend Israel’s sovereignty by sheer force of willpower and harness the passionate ideal of the Jewish State.
The denial of Israel’s right to legislate laws concerning its society is only the beginning with America behaving above the democratic values it so professors to live by while, in reality, it is loyal to a super-self. This is a dangerous moment in the Jewish State’s history and may well be a defining moment in the relationship.
