An Incorrupt Israel is a Free Israel!
Israel cannot be truly free if it is a victim of internal corruption. A society that condones foreign elements’ criminal behaviour towards its people and sanctions enemies of the State within its political institutions is courting cultural suicide. A healthy community, therefore, requires a healthy culture, and this is so, even if culture is the possession of the few. Religion and family are two examples under attack from those who would undermine the Jewish ethos that goes to the very foundation of the Jewish State.
Instead, the corrupters of society would replace their privileged status with materialism and leisure as the primary reasons for their existence.
And it is in these two spheres that Israel’s political visions are being put to the test. The corrupt elements of society are short-sighted by their very nature. They are driven by secular pipe-dreams while assuming many functions of an authentic Jewish polity. Not content with stripping Jews of their Jewishness, these corrupters want to possess their souls. They oppose the Jewish vision because it sustains a value and authority outside the reach of the State.
The revolutionary consciousness must protest the authoritarian’s doctrinal conformity. These ideas are dangerous in just the way that ideologies are dangerous. They try to excite the people to embrace their empty ideas as the ultimate purpose of life, consolation for all their worries.
The corrupters increasingly conscript the citizen’s and society’s functions into the State’s machinery. Should the people surrender to this tyranny, they inadvertently confer on the corrupt leadership the authority to conscript, dictate, organize and punish the rest of us, regardless of how we wish to lead our lives. In fact, by handing over your independence, you invite them to invade those institutions and associations that form the heart of civil society to impose a direction and goal that may have nothing to do with their intrinsic nature.
In this environment, Achdut HaLev and Hadar Yehudit call on the spirit of Lehi, Fighters for the freedom of Israel. The years of lost direction demand an authentic Jewish response. A faithful Jewish revolution!
