BITTER CHOCOLATE Belgium’s Elephant in the room.
We witnessed this week yet again Europe’s insatiable desire to see the Jewish State emasculated and made irrelevant as a sovereign state.
As a majority of lawmakers in the lower house of the Belgium parliament passed a non-binding resolution calling on their government to press the EU to draw up a list of countermeasures against Israel if it goes ahead with plans to “annexe occupied” territory.
Tastes like “Bitter Chocolate” to me while Belgium lectures the Jewish State their country wrestle with Flemish and Wallon separatists within their midst. At the same time, they struggle to hold together a working government and fail to resolve these deep divisions within their society and kick the can down the road for the next generation.
Belgium’s opt to live next to each other rather than with each other in their Flemish and Walloon enclaves. As a consequence of the historical divide entrenched within their national psyche many in the political arena agitate for a formal separation which would lead to the rewriting of Belgium’s borders a tricky thing at best at worst a national calamity and this is the country that chooses to lecture Israel regarding its international obligations.
Does Belgium seriously believe along with the European community that they can determine, absurdly the lives of nearly seven million Jews currently citizens of the Jewish State?
They would destroy our birthright and deny us our future. I am left outraged by their dishonesty but never surprised by their infamy.
This is not a question of annexation its a question of annihilation we have finally arrived at the time of silence that began in the death chambers of Auschwitz and will soon be played out in the streets of Europe and in the precious land of Israel.
The Elephant is in the room!
