Choice Verses Obligation!
Today, more than ever, Jews are confronted with choice versus obligation. Through their actions, they can choose mediocrity or greatness. These choices and obligations depend on the individual and the collective; their outcomes rest with the Jew and the Jewish people. Since 1948, these choices and obligations have become a stark reality for the Jewish nation.
Many Jews choose to ignore the choices put before them while the Land of Israel demands obligation. These Jews prefer mediocrity over greatness, leaving no footprint in the sands of time. They prefer to be like the nations desperately holding onto the Exile with its empty values. Failing to grasp their destiny, they choose to be ordinary.
On the other hand, there is the Jew who understands the obligation set before him and the true nature of his greatness. All he has to do is choose to embrace the obligation to ‘come home’ to the Land of Israel, participate wholeheartedly in its rebuilding, and conquer the Land. Having done so, they will have become a ‘Light unto the Nations’ and a beacon of truth for all peoples.
The door is open! The choice is yours…!
