Constitutional Revolution or Political War?

It appears the Israeli opposition and the Leftist Liberal Woke activists supported by the subservient media have declared war on the newly elected democratic government of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. They ignore the will of the majority of Israelis, which they profess to be sacrosanct in their bleatings about the democratic system. This appears to be only the case when a leftist-orientated government has been elected through the same system, which they now choose to ignore.

This has become the norm worldwide whenever the left is defeated. Democracy takes a beating at their hands in an endeavour to delegitimise the lawfully elected government.

In Israel’s case, the parties concerned are creating a fear campaign over the reforms the new government is putting before the Knesset. These reforms constitute a constitutional revolution to redress the much-needed balance between the elected representatives of the people and the non-elected members of the judiciary. On the other hand, Lapid, Gantz, Lieberman and their fellow travellers are manufacturing a political war of attrition. In the process, they divide the country and undermine its standing in the wider world, particularly our critical relationship with the United States of America.

The left is espousing any conception of justice that might promise to save a divided Israel, riven by conflict and hatred, by turning it into a harmonious community of their liking. Most striking are its sympathies and antipathies: empathy toward secular values and organisations that promote those values in all areas of life, and antipathy toward authentic Jewish values, with a suspicion that authentic Jewish values spell the death knell of their secular, woke vision for Israel. It is they who are guilty of trying to overthrow a Jewish democracy. They have declared political war against an elected government, and they refuse to acknowledge this state of affairs while muddying the waters with abstract ideas and outright lies in an attempt to impose their false narrative on all of us.

With all this in mind, we need to realise that the new right in Israel possesses a political and spiritual vitality that brings with it a self-reviving capacity. It is this vitality that the left, liberal, woke adherents and their political war is attempting to destroy. Few things are more destructive than the political/cultural dreams of the morally bankrupt.

Yosef Yigal Drever and Sylvia Drever co-founded Achdut HaLev in 2006 to reach out to the Jewish community's around the world providing support in learning Torah and promoting the 'Return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel.' Yosef Yigal made Aliya in 2014 while Sylvia his wife is an Israeli. In late 2014 Achdut HaLev concentrated all its resources towards Aliya and the rebuilding of Eretz Yisrael. Excluding none and embracing all. The commandment to settle the Land of Israel is equal in importance to all the Torah Commandments all together: (Sifri Deut 12:29)

This is a good article. Of course lots of dire warnings about the end of democracy in Israel, and with the new government just settling in, it will be interesting to see how it all pans out.
