HALLELUJAH, its TIME!
Unlike so many others who found the London-based Institute for Jewish Policy Research findings shocking that the number of Jews in Europe had fallen to a Thousand year low. Stretching from Britain to Turkey. I for one was elated at the findings.
The last time the Jewish population of Europe had dropped to 1.3 million was in 1170 ce.
The study went on to show that Europe has lost some 60% of its Jewish population since 1970.
Many of those have left because of increased anti-Semitism and there is no reason to believe that movement will not continue.
There was much chest beating and some introspection regarding this trend.
Especially the thought that Germany’s Jewish population was on the verge of disappearing altogether a victim of assimilation into the gentile community. Nothing new there!
In Poland, 70% of Jews marry non-Jews. Hungary is running at 50%. While half the Jews in the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden marry non-Jews. Currently 31% of French Jews marry out while in the UK the figure is 24%.
The list goes on and if anything those figures are most likely understated in most cases.
To be sure this silent Holocaust is devastating our people and annihilating future generations of Jews. The trend will continue while our leaders and fellow-Jews stubbornly continue to perpetuate a Jewish presence in the Diaspora. Why? why? when any sane person can recognise the deathly facts for themselves.
No I for one do not lament the disappearance of the Diaspora, rather I lament the misplaced sentimentality for what was and is a curse on our people. The Exile was meant to bring us to our senses not deliver us into the hands of the nations and eventual extinction.
Jew of the Diaspora self-denial will not save you it will, without doubt, destroy you. You cannot hide from your true self and the mission started at Mount Zion. The plague of assimilation has only one cure today and that is a Return to the Jewish Land where a Jew can be secure in his Jewish skin.
The Sages made it very clear in Torat Kohanim. “In your land, you will dwell securely, and you will not dwell securely outside of it.”
(Vayikra/Leviticus 26:5): “And you shall dwell securely in your land.”
“Hallelujah it is time!”
