INDIGNANT OUTRAGE, REALLY
Indignant outrage is all the go in 2018.
From the Me too movement to, the social lynching of United States High Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh. We have seen the process of erosion in Western society take another step on its downward path to oblivion.
Indignant Outrage
The latest affront to the politically correct and self-interested parties is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
With the help of the media and that includes the more circumspect of the ‘Fith Estate’, have gone on a feeding frenzy, promoting unsubstantiated accusations of the murder of Saudi Arabian Journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
The media and surprisingly much of the political establishment have decided Saudi Arabia guilty.
This brings us to our reason for writing this piece. For the sake of this article wether, Saudi Arabia is guilty or not guilty is not the point. The point is why has the media and its fellow travellers and up until recently both sides of U.S. politics decided on a full frontal attack on Saudi Arabia and it’s Royal family who up until Obama’s Presidency was virtually untouchable despite its shady involvement in the September 11 tragedy not to mention Irak and Yemen.
Despite the fact that Saudi Arabia diverges from everything the United States stands for the U.S. and most of its Allies have been happy to turn a blind eye to the Kingdoms shortcomings as long as there has been mutual benefit.
Crown Prince
So what’s different now? Could it be that the Saudi’s all too real vulnerabilities are starting to create uncertainty amongst certain ‘Power Players’, especially on Capitol Hill? and in the shadows of Washington.
In recent days we have seen President Donald Trump and his administration kickstart damage control while attempting to reassure ‘The Kingdom’ of America’s unwavering support.
The Saudi’s are very aware of the subtle change in the State Department towards Iran during the Obama years and would have detected in recent days this is not restricted to the previous administration.
It would appear that the disaffection felt by many in Saudi Arabia for the Crown Prince and his draconian actions against them has infected many in Washington.
One should bear in mind it wasn’t that long ago that western Europe and the United States were falling all over themselves to make a deal with Iran at any cost. Despite the fact that Iran was considered a pariah state by the very same countries who were lining up to do business with the Ayatollahs.
As for Turkey’s role in all this nothing more needs to be said. The big winner in all this ‘Heart Beating’ is not ‘Truth‘ but rather Putin’s Russia who courtesy of America’s misstep has taken another step towards Middle East hegemony.
In the coming days, we will see if the United States has truly adopted a complex course and placed security and national interest ahead of sentimentalism.
Either way, the west will continue to stumble towards its inevitable confrontation with Iran, Russia and Turkey to avoid being expelled from the Middle East.
In the meantime, private citizens like Jamal Khashoggi will continue to die by the assassin’s hand at the behest of interested parties.
Ratings not Morality
But you will never hear about most of those future victims as the world media is driven by ratings, not morality.
