Iran’s Nuclear Clock Is Ticking. Israel Must Decide…
America will continue to prevaricate right up until Iran detonates its first nuclear device. It will then settle down to business as usual, as it did when North Korea became a nuclear-armed state.
How does this scenario play out for Israel and the broader Middle East? The Biden administration continues to rely on a deterrence strategy, believing that no country would risk using a nuclear device in anger involving casualties of a scale capable of threatening civilisation itself. This worked while there were two major powers capable of destroying mankind. Today, however, nuclear weapons have spread into more and more hands, making the calculus of deterrence less and less likely.
In the case of a nuclear-armed Iran, America would be guilty of a colossal miscalculation should they believe the Islamic Republic of Iran would make the same calculus of survival. On the contrary, Iran would use its nuclear arsenal to undermine international order while specifically targeting Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states. The Jewish state would come in for special attention, with the Iranians seeking its annihilation.
America and Europe couldn’t ignore the nuclear war in their sphere of influence. A sphere fast evaporating under Iranian and Russian efforts to eject Western influence from the region. Due to Western feebleness in dealing with Iran’s military ambitions for the world. Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt are ready to develop or purchase nuclear weapons to match Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
Before we reach that place, an Israeli preemptive strike becomes more certain by the day. Israel has been held back by Western self-interest till now. The Jewish state must decide whether it will continue as a viable country or abandon the dream of three millennia. Israel will achieve a new dimension through fortitude and vision if it takes up the challenge before it.
