Israel goes to the Polls March 23
Tomorrow Israelis go to the polls to cast their vote for the 24th Knesset, thereby participating in the modern social-contract between the state and its citizens. That being said, we cannot overlook that the state is often an arena for conflicting interests, conflicting ideologies. The 24th Knesset will be no different, and self-interest will again take centre stage in all post-election negotiations between the elected parties. On the surface, Israel appears to be riven with social conflicts that go to the Jewish State’s very legitimacy, but only the most blinkered amongst us will fall for that Red Herring. The sad fact is the social conflicts that badger Israeli society is nothing more than the subversive elements intent on destroying the Jewish miracle. They are a straightforward threat to the safety of the state. These curious elements in Israeli society will always claim they are acting in the general interest, whereas more often than not act in the interest of a narrow agenda that perceives the Jewish State in less than complimentary terms.
If you are concerned with this social drift towards capitulation of everything Jewish along with the demonising of the Jewish State then you need to take a long hard look at who you intend to give your vote on 23rd of March and if you look hard enough you will recognise a central if hidden feature of the majority of parties vying for your vote. Those particular parties are prepared to negotiate with the enemies of the Jewish State while serving up the Promised Land of Israel on a platter whetting the enemy appetite for more and more and more till there is no more to give.
What’s to be done? Well if you love the Land of Israel and hold your fellow Jew dearly then you have only one choice. Vote for the only party that is 120% committed to the Jewish vision spelt out in the Torah then you will vote for … you can fill in the space.
