ITS NEVER EASY WHEN ONE OF YOUR OWN GOES MISSING
That’s exactly what took place when Ronald Lauder head of the World Jewish Congress gave voice to his quixotic and misguided opinion piece in the New York Times this week.
Lauder Gone Missing
Whether Lauder set out to Demonise the Jewish State is irrelevant, his words had the same effect intended or not.
The sad reality is that he along with a vast number of Diaspora Jews have gone missing.
That Lauder chooses to vent his spleen on everything from internal Israeli policy decisions, to the mixed section of the Western Wall (Kotel) while lambasting the new Nation State bill that he believes is responsible for alienating Diaspora Jewry from the Jewish State.
It’s not about Laws its about Outcomes
The fact that the Nation-State bill does not remove any existing rights that minorities already have within the Jewish State but rather confirms Israel as the ‘One and only Jewish Homeland’.
The bill unapologetically reaffirms the original United Nations mandate a ‘Homeland for the Jewish People‘ period.
When is a Law not a Law when Israel is in Question
What we see in the likes of a Ronald Lauder is a discord between the National Religious ideology/theology of Israel and what so many in the Diaspora today consider ‘politically correct’ and therefore in line with their host nations adverse policy’s towards the ‘Jewish State’.
Lauder’s position does away with Jewish traditional concepts of the ‘Jewish Nation-State’ and attempts to replace them with a Hodge Podge of religious, moral and political ‘Fairy Dust’, the kind that blinds you to the ‘Truth’.
Fairy Dust and Nothing but the Truth
The facts are these fast disappearing Jews have seen fit to anoint themselves as the final arbiters in the fate of the ‘Jewish Homeland’. As a consequence, they have decided in their wisdom to attack the legitimacy of the ‘State of Israel’.
It should not be forgotten that the ‘Reform movement’ from which the likes of Lauder and his ilk sprang has a long tradition of opposition to Jewish territorial ambitions along with the rejection of Judaism as a national, ethnic identity, while at the same time rejecting long-held messianic expectations of the ‘Restored Jewish Homeland’.
To Be Jewish or Not to Be That is The Question
Incredibly these people were suckled on the milk of assimilation while enthusiastically renouncing ‘Aliya’, as incompatible for a modern Jew living in the Diaspora.
Can we seriously be surprised when Ronald Lauder advocates for a watered down ineffective Jewish entity in the Middle East today? Obviously not as can be seen from his ideological background.
Lauder has gone missing but I suggest you may well recognise him when you next see a ‘Ghetto Yid’ in a US$3,000 American suite and tie.
