NETANYAHU A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS
He will, he won’t, he will, or maybe he has another plan. If Netanyahu is one thing he is a man for all seasons and so the world waits to see if Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will implement the US President Donald Trump’s Middle East peace plan and annexe those territories earmarked for a future two-state solution.
Either way, Netanyahu will show himself the master of the possible a consummate politician for all seasons. One has to look very closely to see if he is to be Zealot or squib whichever its to be he will most likely be scorning his opponents at the end of the day.
A public man, driven by an ambition that would justify any decision he might make will see him opt for pragmatism over idealism.
The Prime Minister is a political realist but at the same time dreams of being his father’s son. A true son of Zion!
He yearns to join those most capable of concerted political action the true believers. Yet always acquiesces to the status quo of the day, salving his convictions with less problematic policy’s.
In doing so he has alienated many of those in positions of influence. Not least the ‘settler movement’ over his handling of the Trump Peace plan. Forcing them and other liked minded Jews underground where they will work to undermine Netanyahu and his government’s defeatist policy’s.
If this were not enough, the close association between Trump’s administration and the pragmatists in the Netanyahu government will make it impossible for those on the Right to support a policy that would accept an Arab entity in the ‘Heart Land’ of the Jewish State.
We can only hope the Trump Peace Plan will go the way of all those that preceded it into the dustbin of history.
