Russia-Ukraine War Up-Date.
It’s been over three months since the stop-start Ukrainian counteroffensive was launched with much fanfare and great expectations of an imminent Russian collapse of morale and fighting spirit. With the Ukrainians sweeping all before them. Neither has happened. The Ukrainian offensive has hit a stalemate with Russia content for the moment to take a defensive position while they weigh up their options. Putin has chosen to use time and make time his servant, not his master.
Contrary to Western opinion, Putin has solidified his political authority, national discipline, economic self-sufficiency and use of technology the longer this conflict continues.
In the meantime, the West have become the arsenal for the Ukraine and taken a prominent part in the propaganda campaign. Nevertheless, the West lacks an endgame perpetuating the mistakes of Iraq and Afghanistan. Bidens America has successfully divided the world into two potentially warlike camps. With China, Russia, Iran and a number of unaligned countries on one side and the Europeans, Japan, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, etc. in support of the United States.
There is so much self-deception interlaced with propaganda by both sides that the facts are barely contested. The use of alleged atrocities as a weapon is out of control. As the war goes on, people are becoming more credulous and savage until all reason has been lost in primitive animalism in an effort to discredit both sides.
What is left after two years of bloodshed is not much. All that stands in the way of a Russian victory is the will to win and the means to fight. In the end, politics will intrude on the strategy of occupying a geographical point instead of destroying either army.
One thing is certain: the world’s geo-political map will look somewhat different when the guns fall silent till next time.
