Smotrich & Bennet Agree to a Divorce
MK Bezalel Smotrich and MK Naftali Bennet agreed to a political divorce this week amidst accusations from Smotrich that Yamina’s Bennet could be moving towards an alliance with Yesh Atids Lapid and support a settlement freeze. Is there any truth to Smotrichs concern? I don’t know but it would not be the first time Naftali Bennet has betrayed his party’s core values for the sake of political opportunism. In 2013 Bennet made a pact with Lapid to overcome his political nemesis Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, the price for Lapids support was a universal draft and fixed exemption quota alongside the integration of Haredim into the workforce.
The pact between Lapid and Bennet went the way of all bad marriages and ended in acrimony. Next, Bennet displayed his lack of loyalty when he left Habayit Hayehudi to start a new party Yamina just before the 2019 election.
Just maybe a serial adulterer would have no qualms doing it one more time.
If that were to be the case then Yamina under Bennet should be shunned at the next election for double-dealing and blatantly trashing their vision for the Jewish State.
Does Bennet not understand the Justice of the Jewish presence in those so-called “occupied” lands, that he and Lapid would impose a freeze.
Are the two of them so full of self-hate that they doubt the right of every Jew to live in any and every part of Eretz Israel? Then they are afflicted with self-hate and lack the moral courage that is sorely needed today in Israel.
While they refuse to recognize the danger to the Jewish State that their self-serving backroom deals would realize.
Bezalel Smotrich has foreseen the potential calamity a Bennet – Lapid partnership would mean for Israel’s future. Its to be hoped that Smotrich by his actions will inspire Israelis to regain their confidence in a Jewish future and belief in the original vision of a Restored Israel leaving behind forever disunity, depression and fear and see them for the imposters they are.
