THE BIG APPLE OR THE ROTTEN APPLE?

For many living in New York today, ‘The Big Apple has definitely turned rotten. The glitz and chutzpah that was New York is now a receding memory of better day’s as the global Covid19 pandemic takes its toll on America’s premier city.

Before Covid19 New York was already suffering from ageing infrastructure, transportation, and economic opportunity under stress for all but the very wealthy. It’s city’s ageing assets present a massive infrastructure challenge that is echoed throughout the continental United States. As the population continues to grow more stress will be added to the already crippled services etc…

Covid19 and its resulting shutdown have highlighted the vulnerabilities New York faces that being said New York has in recent years experienced increased capital investment and was beginning to show some positive if mixed results.

Covid19 has arrested the forward momentum these projects may have achieved and left a ‘Big’ question mark over the sustainability of the New York City model.

Add to these problems the recent ‘Black Lives Matter” and other likeminded groups rampaging through the streets of New York and we can see the enormity and complexity of the problem faced by New York and other American cities under siege from falsified, distorted, ignorant prejudice backed by a fake media committed to oversimplify the vast and complex issues America faces today.

In today’s America, history, politics, morality, religion are currently under the microscope of public opinion and no one knows where it will all end.

If it should end badly then America’s Jews will be the first to taste the hate that lies at the bottom of this deep well of moral bankruptcy.

Let this be a warning to the Jews of New York what you are witnessing in America today is a political reality, a social reality and if you think you can ignore the moral reset America is currently going through by diminishing the facts so you can continue to pursue your own personal interests while the Diaspora disintegrates then you will have made a grave mistake.

You have a responsibility to your People and to your Land and time is running out for you to exercise that obligation as a Jew before the maelstrom devours you and your families.

Excluding none and embracing all. The commandment to settle the Land of Israel is equal in importance to all the Torah Commandments all together: (Sifri Deut 12:29)
