Without G-d and Religion, Israel Cannot Remain Jewish!

If the Jewish State is to remain essentially Jewish, it must continue to acknowledge G-d and religion. If the government does not honour their indispensable place in the nation’s life, this neglect will marginalise them. Of course, the cultural currents that have undermined Judaism in the last seventy-six years may appear to some sectors of society to be so strong that no authentic government can affect society’s current course.

Nevertheless, we are obliged to strengthen those aspects of our cultural and religious inheritance that have been essential to the Jewish people’s survival over the last 3,000 years. This is certainly true of the leading figures in Israel, whose words and deeds greatly affect the common sense of its citizens. It is indisputable that Judaism has been the one constant beneficial influence on the Jewish nation.

This demands the government and other leading figures in public life to do what they can to ensure that Judaism is upheld and passed on to future generations. By doing so, Judaism will offer an overarching frame of reference so that both the government and the public may decline the temptations of the moment and seek the higher things that are of this world and beyond it so that their efforts might be in the service of an authentic Jewish State. Otherwise, Israel risks being motivated by the desire for immediate gain and the crowd’s applause. Motivations that cannot, in the end, be for the good of the nation.

This behaviour would undermine the people’s willingness to honour G-d, the Torah, and the religious expression of their ancestors, which would open the door to the overthrow of every significant concept and principle that has formed a strong and cohesive people. Like the West’s mad descent into leftist-woke insanity, there could only be one outcome with devastating effects so clearly seen today in every aspect of Western life.

For the mutual loyalty and cohesion of the nation and its common defence, we must succeed in uniting the nation behind millennia of authentic Jewish values which are in the national interest and the good of the nation.

Yosef Yigal Drever and Sylvia Drever co-founded Achdut HaLev in 2006 to reach out to the Jewish community's around the world providing support in learning Torah and promoting the 'Return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel.' Yosef Yigal made Aliya in 2014 while Sylvia his wife is an Israeli. In late 2014 Achdut HaLev concentrated all its resources towards Aliya and the rebuilding of Eretz Yisrael. Excluding none and embracing all. The commandment to settle the Land of Israel is equal in importance to all the Torah Commandments all together: (Sifri Deut 12:29)
