The Diasporas Dilemma !
The Diaspora suffers from a case of schizophrenia, and to those Jews who profess to be religious, it’s particularly acute. For them, the verses from the Talmud (Ketuvot 110b) teach, ”Whoever lives in Eretz Yisrael is like one who has a G-d, and whoever lives outside Eretz Yisrael is like one who has no G-d.”
The above teaching should leave all Jews in a dilemma who refuse to believe in the mitzvah of living in Eretz Yisrael. It is this refusal to act on the restoration of the Jewish State in 1948 that has brought dire calamities on the Jewish people and will bring even more horrific troubles to come.
They fail or choose not to recognise G-d’s eternal plan for the Jewish people and humanity as a whole. In the days of the Babylonian exile, a mere 42,360 Jews of all backgrounds made their way home and eventually built the second Temple. The vast majority of prosperous and Torah-oriented Jews preferred the security and prosperity of an alien society, turning their backs on G-d’s good and holy land.
Now this generation plays loose with the obligation to return to the Promised Land, preferring the comforts of their masters. Only 80 years ago, 6 million of our brothers and sisters were treated like refuse to be incinerated like so much garbage.
We should all feel ashamed of our lethargic response to the greatest event in history since the creation of the world.
