The Politics of Self-Interest Iranian Style !

The politics of self-interest can take many forms and shapes in the pursuit of national goals and national security. In the case of Iran, self-interest has many faces, one being the vital interests of the United States in the Persian Gulf. Any perceived threat to the Gulf is seen as an assault on American hegemony in the region. With that said, we can address the upheaval taking place in the Islamic Republic of Iran as a demonstration of American self-interest at work. The United States, along with Israel, has made it very clear that an assault on either country’s self-interest will be met by overwhelming military force.

The current U.S. military buildup in the region is intended as a signal to the mullahs in Tehran, as well as Russia and China, not to exploit the current crisis in Iran for their own ends.

A miscalculation by either party would create the greatest threat to world peace since 1945. The world stands at the precipice of the most dangerous phase in the politics of self-interest as Moscow and Beijing attempt to capitalise on the chaos in Tehran. The axis of evil has long regarded Persia as a region of strategic importance to their long-term plans and poses a serious threat to American interests and those of the Jewish State.

Self-interest dictates what comes next when the propaganda war ceases; then comes the hot war. We are entering perilous waters and may yet rue the day Armageddon came to stay.

Yosef Yigal Drever

Yosef Yigal Drever and Sylvia Drever co-founded Achdut HaLev in 2006 to reach out to the Jewish community's around the world providing support in learning Torah and promoting the 'Return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel.' Yosef Yigal made Aliya in 2014 while Sylvia his wife is an Israeli. In late 2014 Achdut HaLev concentrated all its resources towards Aliya and the rebuilding of Eretz Yisrael. Excluding none and embracing all. The commandment to settle the Land of Israel is equal in importance to all the Torah Commandments all together: (Sifri Deut 12:29)
