Trumps First 100 Days + !

When you remove the blinders and take a deep look at Trump’s accomplishments during his first hundred days + while impressive domestically, leaves a lot to be desired from his erratic foreign policy Mark II.

The Chinese continue to treat the South China Sea like their own private pond for their amusement. At the same time, Putin’s Russia is still on Ukrainian soil with no credible sign of a cease-fire. Then there is the Islamic Republic of Iran, cosying up to Trump’s America, buying time to finish its nuclear weapons program, relying on American gullibility and its warped self-interest.

Leaving the Israelis to ponder American reliability under Trump any more than four years of the Biden-Harris Presidency was willing to deliver.

Add to these outstanding foreign policy dilemmas Trump’s announcement to withdraw the remaining 2,000 U.S. troops from northern Syria, as he originally intended during his first administration, which was stymied by his military brass at the time. This time he is not listening and intends handing Syria on a platter to Turkey’s Erdogan, resulting in a direct threat to the State of Israel.

Trump is proving to be erratic and like the proverbial ‘Bull in the China shop’ is potentially destructive to allies and foes, and a lot less towards the West’s foes than one would like.

Trump has a habit of making grand gestures loudly while failing to back them up with action. If you doubt it, I suggest you take a look at all the ‘Red Lines’ that have been crossed in the last 100 days and beyond.

It makes for disappointing reading. We shall wait for the next chapter in the Trump fantasy before closing the book on him.

Yosef Yigal Drever

Yosef Yigal Drever and Sylvia Drever co-founded Achdut HaLev in 2006 to reach out to the Jewish community's around the world providing support in learning Torah and promoting the 'Return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel.' Yosef Yigal made Aliya in 2014 while Sylvia his wife is an Israeli. In late 2014 Achdut HaLev concentrated all its resources towards Aliya and the rebuilding of Eretz Yisrael. Excluding none and embracing all. The commandment to settle the Land of Israel is equal in importance to all the Torah Commandments all together: (Sifri Deut 12:29)
