UTJ Puts Israel at Risk !

The United Torah Judaism party has chosen a narrow sectarian vision over the well-being of the Jewish State and its people as it exited the Government today, leaving the Binyamin Netanyahu government holding onto power by its fingernails with a one-seat majority in the Knesset. Should UTJ’s close ally, Shas, decide to join United Torah Judaism on the backbench, the current leadership will struggle to survive as a minority government.

UTJ’s decision to desert Netanyahu’s administration is another example of the political donkeys running the Haredi parties. Their decision to leave is based on their opposition to legislation that would require Haredi males to do mandatory military service. They are, in the main, non-Zionist and maintain a narrow ”status quo” relationship regarding religion and state issues.

These self-serving politicians, by their partisan behaviour, are leading their followers to a spiritual and physical slaughter while they masquerade as pious rabbis. They put the whole nation at risk during a time of conflict, both physically and diplomatically, when their narrow interests are threatened they jettison the security of the country that they are not prepared to defend while flaunting their Torah credentials when in actuality they deny the Torah teaching that would allow Jews to learn Torah while taking up the sword when necessary. Suddenly, there are no means that are not justified in bringing the country down; these leaders are locked in a time warp that’s to be found in the Ghetto of the past. They have no qualms about their actions giving solace to the Arab enemy, as they are blind to the Torah’s vision of a state built on authentic Jewish values. It’s to be hoped saner heads will prevail before more damage is done to Israeli society.

Yosef Yigal Drever

Yosef Yigal Drever and Sylvia Drever co-founded Achdut HaLev in 2006 to reach out to the Jewish community's around the world providing support in learning Torah and promoting the 'Return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel.' Yosef Yigal made Aliya in 2014 while Sylvia his wife is an Israeli. In late 2014 Achdut HaLev concentrated all its resources towards Aliya and the rebuilding of Eretz Yisrael. Excluding none and embracing all. The commandment to settle the Land of Israel is equal in importance to all the Torah Commandments all together: (Sifri Deut 12:29)

I have to agree with you (but don’t let anyone know!) Especially during this time of year, when it was exactly this type of behavior that led to the destruction of the Beit HaMikdash and the current exile. I understand that they are concerned that the army will be a bad influence; however, there are units now for them, and they have an opportunity to do the influencing. This only creates bad feelings towards the Torah, chas vshalom… NOT a Kiddush Hashem, the opposite.
