Moral Equivalents Is Not Torah Teaching!

Rabbi Medan, Rosh Yeshiva of Ha Etzion, misrepresents the Torah by quoting it out of context when he compares the destruction of the second Temple due to unwarranted hate and speaking Lashon Hara of one fellow Jew to that of Jews in the Shomron taking retaliatory measures towards Arab violence.

He poses an argument in favour of moral equivalents while ignoring the fact that the Torah is referring to a situation exclusively between Jews and never intended a lesson of equivalents between Jew and Gentile.

Rabbi Medan appears to be immersed in a moral quandary reminiscent of King Saul’s struggle over the commandment to wipe out Amalek.

The Rabbi seems to baulk at the standard of mercy G-d has presented in the Torah and finds himself unable to fully accept the yoke of heaven because of his personal views and concepts, a very modern position that undermines Torah teaching.

His concept of moral equivalents perverts the Torah and would shackle us to a humanist interpretation of the Torah vainly embraced by liberal minds tainted by years spent in Exile.

In conclusion, if Israel is going to be free of daily violence towards Jews and determined to build an authentic Jewish State, then we, the people, must refuse to hide behind the ethics and morality of moral equivalents that encourage our enemies to inflict death and destruction at a place and time of their choosing.

Moral equivalents are another ‘Golden Calf’ to be worshipped by the liberal left, promising much and delivering nothing but disappointment and bitterness. Where as authentic Jewish ethics and morality, as found in the Torah, will take its revenge on those who deliberately murder Jews.

We need no half-baked liberal ideas nor lessons from those who cherry-pick the Torah. We know what Judaism teaches about morality and ethics and what they are precisely within that context.

We know the importance of peace and the time for war, when to be merciful and when to be cruel and we know what moral equivalents brings to the table.

Yosef Yigal Drever and Sylvia Drever co-founded Achdut HaLev in 2006 to reach out to the Jewish community's around the world providing support in learning Torah and promoting the 'Return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel.' Yosef Yigal made Aliya in 2014 while Sylvia his wife is an Israeli. In late 2014 Achdut HaLev concentrated all its resources towards Aliya and the rebuilding of Eretz Yisrael. Excluding none and embracing all. The commandment to settle the Land of Israel is equal in importance to all the Torah Commandments all together: (Sifri Deut 12:29)

Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is excellent blog. A fantastic read. I’ll certainly be back.
