Yair Lapid Grinding His Axe; A Small Minded Man!

Yair Lapid again showed himself as a small-minded man with a political axe to grind as he went on a rant against Netanyahu from the speaker’s podium in the Knesset tonight, accusing the Prime Minister of dishonesty and disloyalty to Israel’s soldiers and hostages as he backed the new draft law.

While the timing of introducing controversial legislation is always fraught with political danger, it does not mean that legislation of any kind is necessarily suspended during wartime. What is customarily suspended is a direct attack upon the government of the day during wartime.

Lapid and his cronies have no compunction to undermine a wartime government for their own political ends. They are motivated by ideology and political advantage with the sole purpose of delivering them the government benches.

Lapid is guilty of forgetting that in war, we are all supposed to work together to achieve one shared goal, sacrificing personal desires and values along the way. We should accept that our efforts should be directed where they are most needed in times of conflict.

In peacetime, normal civil society will reassert itself, and the likes of Lapid will have his day of acrimony spreading his message of national failure and military defeat. The man has become a cypher for all that is wrong in Israeli society and represents elements that would replace the Jewish State with a truncated binational entity.
