Oslo Accords be Damned there Dead!

The ever-lingering smell of the Oslo Accords mindset that still bedevils some Jews can no longer be tolerated post-October 7, 2023, if Israel is to bury the two-state solution once and for all. The Jewish State should take a leaf out of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who declared the Oslo Accords were dead in January 2018 and again in May 2020.

If Israel’s leaders fail to proclaim the demise of the Oslo Accords officially, they will find the next U.S. administration will resurrect them in the interest of coercing Israel to concede to a two-state solution.

No doubt there will be many Jews who will jump to the defence of the Accords and will angrily dismiss my assumptions, calling them paranoid overreaction. These political fossils will dredge up the bankrupt slogans of the eighties and early nineties: ‘give peace a chance’. They ignore the facts on the ground currently reshaping Israeli society. Instead, the adherents to the Oslo Accords will believe what they want to believe, no matter how much their partners spill Jewish blood for peace. Be it Hamas or a failed Palestinian Authority, because they want to believe, because they need to believe and damn the consequences, subject to their absurd belief in the credibility of a sworn enemy.

Yosef Yigal Drever

Yosef Yigal Drever and Sylvia Drever co-founded Achdut HaLev in 2006 to reach out to the Jewish community's around the world providing support in learning Torah and promoting the 'Return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel.' Yosef Yigal made Aliya in 2014 while Sylvia his wife is an Israeli. In late 2014 Achdut HaLev concentrated all its resources towards Aliya and the rebuilding of Eretz Yisrael. Excluding none and embracing all. The commandment to settle the Land of Israel is equal in importance to all the Torah Commandments all together: (Sifri Deut 12:29)
