When Only Aliya Will Do !
As the world drowns in an ancient madness built on blind prejudice and irrational hatred, Jews are asking the question in growing numbers: is it time to leave the Diaspora behind and fulfil the Biblical commandment to make Aliya, it is a Torah Mitzvah. Throughout the millennia, Jews have turned towards Jerusalem three times a day in the course of prayer, stressing the bond between themselves and the Land of Israel, praying for the return of their exiled people.
The call to return home was once again heard in 1948 when the United Nations voted for recognition of the State of Israel, which was immediately attacked by three Arab states and smaller military contingents from various other Arab countries. Jews from around the world answered the call and rushed to fight side by side with their brothers and sisters who had already made Aliya in the preceding years.
Seventy-five years later, on October 7 2023, a new generation was asked the question. Where do you belong? Many have answered that question by coming home, investing their future and that of their children in the Jewish State and yet the vast majority of Jews fail to hear the call of Return. Choosing to risk everything while placing their lives into the hands of a growing, hostile environment reminiscent of 1930s Germany. The gruesome horrors and unbridled cruelty of October 7 2023, and the subsequent Jew-Hatred now prevalent throughout the Western world have forced Jews to once again stare into the abyss that was Auschwitz, Majdanek, and Treblinka, where millions of Jews went up in smoke.
The Diaspora Jew finds it extremely hard to accept that an epidemic of virulent Jew-Hatred has come to stay. They seek reassurance through Gentile leaders that this is just a passing phase while looking for answers from traditional Jewish leadership. None forthcoming from either Jew or Gentile. Instead, a haunting silence of contentment pervades all aspects of leadership. No lesson from the Holocaust has been learnt whose dominant characteristics are similar to those that now afflict the Diaspora.
Many still believe that America, Australia and the United Kingdom provide a haven in a world gone mad. How wrong they are, it’s precisely these countries that today lead the fight against Jews and the State of Israel. There is no more ‘Gulden Medina’ to flee to; that time has now passed, and only one place on earth will welcome home the Jews of the dying Diaspora and that place is the Jewish State Israel the Land of Promise where you and your children will grow up to be free men and women refusing to bend the knee to historys next monster.
