America Is A Blatant Diaspora Mindset!
After World War II, optimism dominated American Jewry’s mindset in the Fifties and Sixties. They believed Jewish America would come to resemble Babylon in the Talmudic era or the Golden Age in Spain. To this day, many American Jews believe they are juxtaposed to the State of Israel as a spiritual and cultural centre, as the original Babylon was vis-a-vis Jerusalem.
Babylon was seen as an autonomous Jewish centre with its own leaders, renowned yeshivot, and Torah-education institutions. American Jewry aspired to be another Jewish Babylon, i.e., a counterpart of the Jewish State. This blatant mindset is still alive today in the Diaspora and amongst some in Israel. They believe it to be a positive phenomenon that brings prosperity and blessings to the Jewish people.
This false belief encourages Jews that their future in America is assured. Part of the price for buying into this falsehood is the blurring of the Jewish image, leaving the American Jew divided in his mind and his way of life. The ideology of ‘the Land of Israel and America’ is no more than a curse of the Diaspora.
The ‘Hens are coming home to roost’. As the Jews have dwindled in population and Moslems have increased dramatically in the last twenty years, America’s Jews are finding themselves marginalised and isolated from mainstream America.
What does this all mean? It means Diaspora Jews are living on borrowed time! Is anyone so blind to the reality that faces American Jews in the Diaspora today? Can they honestly say that their grandchildren will be Jews if they remain in a dying exile? As long as they inhabit a paradise of artificial apathy, ignoring the plague of loss of identity and assimilation that rages and threatens to annihilate them.
There is only one definitive answer to the crisis at hand. Come Home! Return to your Borders and join your brothers and sisters in building the Land and seeing the Promise of the forefathers fulfilled.
