An Agreement in Name Only !
Any agreement signed by the leadership in Tehran would be an agreement in name only. On past experience, their agreements have been impermanent. The Iranians are masters at improvisation, edging forward where possible, falling back when necessary, always appearing to do something while in fact doing nothing. On the other side, President Trump is prone to speak firmly one day about the need to crush Iran’s current regime, but on the next day, he retracts what he had just said. His flexibility could exhaust his credibility at home and abroad, limiting his ability to negotiate an agreement favourable to the United States.
Leaving him with a geopolitical mess, unable to deflect Xi Jinping from his geopolitical trajectory, Trump might cut an unsatisfactory deal with the masters in Tehran, leading to a world conflagration. If this scenario is to be avoided, the United States and Israel will have to take off the gloves and use every military asset at their disposal to destroy the Islamic Republic of Iran before Iran’s erstwhile allies decide the time is ripe to interject themselves into the widening conflict.
Finally, it’s a case of damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Whatever strategy is chosen, be it political or military, it is never pure. In the coming days, all will be revealed, well, almost all.
