Israel a Reluctant Superpower !

Israel is in the process of taking on the mantle of a superpower, albeit reluctantly. While this sobriquet sits uneasily on the shoulders of the Jewish State, the evolution from a poor third-world country to the premier ”Start-Up Nation” which attracts more than twice as much venture capital per person as the United States and more than 40 times as much as Europe. Israel is now a high-tech, high-growth economy, leaving many of the Big Players in the shade. Their military is legendary and continues to confound its enemies and friends alike, and all this with a country the size of New Jersey, home to 7.7 million Jews.

So why the reluctance to embrace superpower status? The answer lies in the Jewish psyche a people with more than three thousand years of history behind it, and the knowledge that empires rise and fall with constant repidity. They have seen the Babylonians, the Persians, the Greeks, mighty Rome, and, in more recent times, Hitler’s Third Reich. They understand that these superpowers of their day fell to the sins of avarice and hubris and now belong to the rubbish heap of history. The United States of America will not escape its destiny as another failed superpower.

Israel is a different creature, with its potential superpower status resting on very different perceptions of leadership. In fact, we are seeing a re-emergence of the nation’s true Jewish essence, leading to a reassessment of Western permissiveness and a new liberal ideology based on the death of the nation state and sexual perversions as its core values.

Israel is a new superpower, never seen before, one of moral certitude without territorial ambitions that are not found within its legitimate borders. The Jewish State’s power rests on three thousand years of nationhood under G-d, with a mission not based on strength or brute power but on the Spirit of the G-d of Israel. It is this that assures its status as the new Superpower.
