It is Time To Lead!
It’s been ten months since Israel responded to the Palestinian slaughter of some 1,300 men, women and children on October 7. The conflict in Gaza still rages while attacks on Israel’s Northern border and sporadic violence continue in the Shomron and Judea. The threat of all-out war with Iran hangs over the nation like a Damocle sword.
After all the blood, sweat and tears that Israel has had to endure, one is left with a dilemma. Our political leaders appear unable any longer to define the goals of war and fall back on the failed policy of containment that America loves so much. They ignore powerful geopolitical realities in the region in favour of indulging American self-interest to the detriment of the Jewish State’s self-interest.
In doing so, Israel signals to its enemies a desire to maintain the existing status quo. For Iran and its proxies, this means weakness and a lack of resolve in preserving Israel’s future.
The enemy believes Israel’s leaders are incapable of synchronising its military and political interests due to American interference in Israel’s running of the current war. They believe Israel will be coerced into capitulating its crucial interests for American security guarantees. Iran also believes those guarantees to be worthless since the humiliating retreat from Afghanistan and America’s ongoing appeasement of Iranian aggression.
They happen to be correct. Who could trust an America that betrayed South Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan and is in the process of betraying the Jewish State? The United States’ current leaders are acting in some mental no-man’s land, with no sense of reality. The end of any pretence to Israel’s independence is fast approaching should the current US government win the upcoming Presidential election.
Suppose the House of Cards is to be saved. In that case, authentic Jewish leadership in Jerusalem is crucial in preserving an independent sovereign Jewish State, prioritising its defined self-interest at the exclusion of all others.
These leaders need to align their lives with the fate of their country so that at no moment of their existence could they separate themselves from it. It’s time for Israel to stand firm and embrace the values of 3,000 years of religious Zionism. Learn Jewish history and the Torah, and lead our people Home!
