KKL-Jewish National Fund Endorses Boycott of Bezalel Smotrich.
The French Jewish National Fund succumbed to pressure from left-wing groups to boycott their event hosting Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s speaking engagement in Paris next week.
The KKF-JNF has disavowed involvement in inviting the Finance Minister and stated it was necessary to distance the organisation from Smotrich to avoid criticism from French Jews.
This is just another of the many disloyal acts of recent times that the Jewish State has endured from diaspora Jews. It appears the Jews of America and Europe have declared war on the Netanyahu government. Denouncing Israel’s proposed Judicial Reforms as the first step to overthrowing democracy in Israel.
Like the French JNF diaspora, Jews worldwide find themselves hand in hand with leftist woke ideologues being swept up in the strong impulsions of panic that often cause people to accept any solution with a perceived majority behind it, as in the case of opposition towards the Judicial reforms.
The Netanyahu government policy is unpopular amongst the opposition. It takes a lot of courage to continue advocating those policies in circumstances where their political enemies invoke charges of treason and disloyalty. In moral terms, we have courage on one side, intolerance on the other, and a picture of a community involved in the conflict.
Unfortunately, a crucial element is missing in this sorry affair respect for the truth. Under these circumstances, the pressure of expediency has caused considerable distortions of fact.
As the opposition forces manufacturers crisis on crisis, this pressure increases. Further, if the Lapid / Gantz goal is taken to be an overriding criterion of action, then truth, like everything else, must take a subordinate position, to some degree essential to the success of their destabilising campaign while twisted for convenience in many particulars. This fact is seen in the motivation behind the left, which along with the partisan media, feeds on the crisis and depends upon a set of dogmatic beliefs whose questioning would indicate a threat to their agenda.
Unfortunately, diaspora Jewry increasingly joins these ideologues in dividing Israeli society. We now find ourselves in a strident and rigid world of propaganda where appeals to national interest or slogans like “national survival” become the catch cries of the very people undermining that national survival.
It is hoped that diaspora Jewry will take a step back and view what’s presently going on in Israel through the prism of objectivity and rational thought, not the lack of realism in understanding social and political affairs in Israel today.
One last thought on the matter. The Jewish State is not burning nor falling apart at the seams as the biased media and political hacks like Lapid, and Gantz would have us believe. No, the reality is entirely different, and if we wish it to remain so, we, the Jewish people, will have to be diligent in confronting the facts.
