The Israeli Jew Like No Other! What About You?
The Israeli Jew is an amalgam of faith, cultural outlook, racial memories and feelings, and personal and social habits that he believes are worth fighting for, even at the cost of blood and tears, which has made the history of the Jews for the last two thousand years a beacon of light to the nations of the world.
The Israeli Jew is familiar with suffering and loss of life in every generation and is aware that his choice to call Israel home is accompanied by sorrow and grief. Yet he knows despite the violent political and economic discrimination and every form of material and moral discouragement and ultimately naked Jew hatred for him and his country. The Israeli Jew knows he has been generously endowed with a free, unbroken Jewish personality that his brother and sister in the West no longer possess.
Unlike the Israeli Jew, today’s diaspora Jew chooses actively or passively the insecure status, the social humiliations of living as a Jew, whether concealed or open, in a country which does not like Jews, that is, to a large extent his own affair. The diaspora Jew may be despised for insufficient pride or for deceiving himself about the danger all around him and the predicted disasters for Jews in the coming days.
All the horrors of recent history have failed to open their eyes to their predicament; are we to assume they are incurably blind to reality?
The answer to that question must be no. We cannot give up on them. We have to convince them that the State of Israel has rendered the greatest service that any human institution can perform for individuals. The Restored Israel has gifted Jews not merely their personal dignity and status as human beings but their right to choose as individuals the right to live as Jews without compromise. This basic freedom of choice, the right to live or perish in the Jewish State, without which life in the diaspora is a form of slavery.
The Jewish future belongs to Israel. The Jewish State offers the diaspora Jew emancipation.
