Trumps World Where Self-Deception and Hubris Rule!

Trump meets with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara during the NATO summit. For Turkey, two things take priority in this meeting: first, access to the F-35 fighter jet and closer ties with the United States to attain the status of number-one ally in the region, replacing Israel as the premier partner. Should Erdogan gain Trump’s support in achieving these two goals, Erdogan will have positioned himself as the arbiter of the Middle East’s future and put the Jewish State’s very existence in peril.

Add to this very real scenario the MOU with the Iranian Islamic Republic, and you have the makings of a devastating crisis that would lead to war on a scale not seen since the Second World War. There is no place for complacency among America’s leadership. However, the United States’ political thinking on Iran is fraught with complacency and, above all, self-doubt. Trump appears to lack reflection, residing in a shallowness that allows for self-deception and miscalculation. All of this smacks of hubris, leaving one to question the sanity of those in charge of U.S. foreign policy.

This potential crisis will need all of Israel’s resources to impose psychological dominance while convincing friend and foe alike that to pursue this suicidal policy is not worth the pain it would bring. The Jewish State must win the duel of wills by means of frightening, paralysing, and surprising both America and the forces hostile to Israel.

Yosef Yigal Drever and Sylvia Drever co-founded Achdut HaLev in 2006 to reach out to the Jewish community's around the world providing support in learning Torah and promoting the 'Return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel.' Yosef Yigal made Aliya in 2014 while Sylvia his wife is an Israeli. In late 2014 Achdut HaLev concentrated all its resources towards Aliya and the rebuilding of Eretz Yisrael. Excluding none and embracing all. The commandment to settle the Land of Israel is equal in importance to all the Torah Commandments all together: (Sifri Deut 12:29)
