Biden Ceasefire Proposal Is A Get Out of Jail Free Card For Hamas & Co.
If Israel were to accept Biden’s ceasefire proposal, it would be a severe setback to the country’s security, not to mention a blow to its sovereignty. The proposal brought a sharp and no-nonsense reaction from Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who jointly declared their rejection of any cease-fire agreement that would leave Hamas intact and in control of Gaza, albeit in a significantly reduced capacity. They made it crystal clear that should Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu accept the deal, they would leave the government. Both men outlined their opposition in no uncertain words: ”no end to the Gaza conflict without destroying Hamas and bringing back all the hostages.”
Their statement was ridiculed by the usual suspects from Israel’s Left, igniting Yesh Atid Chairman Yair Lapid to accuse Smotrich and Ben Gvir of endangering Israel’s national security. Lapid called them a betrayal of national security.
No surprises there. Lapid once again shows where his loyalties lie. He and his cronies are undermining Israel’s internal and external security by giving succour to the enemies of the Jewish State. Their liberal relativism arrogantly allows them to believe only their set of values is true and all the others are false. Leading them down the path of appeasement and eventual surrender. The Left’s aspirations for the nation differ from those of Ben Gvir and Smotrich.
Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir follow a very different drum. They see Zionism as a revolution against the Leftist trends undermining Israel’s viability as a Jewish State. This Zionist perspective attempts to establish the communitarian, social, and political lives the Torah supports and promotes in Jewish life. They are aware that Religious Zionism is a far-reaching social and political revolution.
They stand prepared, if necessary, to sacrifice their political careers to ensure Israel’s security and national sovereignty. The Nation should stand with them in rejecting any proposals that promote the self-interest of other nations at the expense of Israel’s self-interest.
