China in Deep Thought over Iran !

As the Iran war mark II enters its second week of conflict, the question on the lips of every Foreign Office around the world is what will China do next, as its access to Iranian oil is threatened, and its substantial influence in the Middle East is being diminished every day that Israel and the United States weaken the China, Russia, Iran triad.

Is China experiencing paralysis amid international upheaval in a changing, uncertain world? Or is it biding its time and sees no need to react in haste. For China, this may well prove not to be the wrong policy in the long run. The Iran conflict may have had a sobering effect on China’s leadership and has made it more aware of the calamitous effects of supporting Iran militarily. It’s possible President Xi Jinping has been advised by his military that, for the moment, China’s objectives exceed its capabilities, and the country’s welfare must take precedence over everything else. The problem, however, remains how China guarantee its energy lifeline and remains aloof from the Iran war. Imperial Japan faced this dilemma eighty-five years ago when America effectively cut off Japan’s access to raw materials and oil, stifling its ability to execute its war aims in China. Japan’s answer to the American hegemony was a surprise military strike on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbour, Hawaii, on December 7, 1941.

China may well choose the Imperial Japan strategic decision to go early and throw its might into a war that will have made the world a very dangerous place for everybody.

The string is being played out and begs the question: How long is a piece of string?

Yosef Yigal Drever and Sylvia Drever co-founded Achdut HaLev in 2006 to reach out to the Jewish community's around the world providing support in learning Torah and promoting the 'Return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel.' Yosef Yigal made Aliya in 2014 while Sylvia his wife is an Israeli. In late 2014 Achdut HaLev concentrated all its resources towards Aliya and the rebuilding of Eretz Yisrael. Excluding none and embracing all. The commandment to settle the Land of Israel is equal in importance to all the Torah Commandments all together: (Sifri Deut 12:29)

  • Malka Finkel says:

G-d forbid China should join in. I consider it frightening to give China any media attention. They do not care what the world thinks. I feel it better to be careful not to ruffle the proverbial feathers. Albeit they are NOT stronger than G-d but the damage would be catastrophic

    • Your concerns are understandable under the circumstances. However, I can assure you China does not make security policy based on media speculation, including that of Achdut HaLev & Hadar Yehudit. They plan for all scenarios years ahead and weigh the advantages to China, i.e., Self-Interest.

      Your comment is appreciated!
