Good Governance Under Threat But By Whom?

Last week, we wrote an article, ‘Israel’s Paradox Two Seemingly Absolute Values!’ addressing the Left’s paranoia towards the Religious Zionists of Israel. Suggesting their participation in Israeli society was under threat from Religious extremists. We made it clear no such threat exists and indicated if any danger to the social cohesion of Israeli society existed, it came from the Left.

That was last week. This week, Leftist journalists and political activists are accusing Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu of undermining good governance and only with his departure from politics will the nation of Israel preserve that good governance.

The likes of Lapid would have you believe Netanyahu is a dire threat to democracy and the nation’s legal institutions, undermining good governance at every opportunity. The fact is, once again, the Left seeks to control the expression of opinion through a biased media and partisan Judiciary. It is they who invite intolerance of a legally elected government, using every means at their disposal to coerce the public from supporting the Prime Minister of Israel. Lapid and his cronies’ agenda is illegitimate as they attempt to exchange truth for error, and facts collide with political opportunism at every turn in the political road.

Netanyahu’s government may surely be guilty of bad decisions like all governments of all persuasions. However, it is not guilty of acting in a corrupt or tyrannical manner. The Left declares Netanyahu incapable of delivering good governance. At the same time, they agitate for governance not in the people’s interest, proscribing opinions to them and determining what doctrines or arguments they shall be allowed to question. The Liberty of Thought is what’s under threat from the Left, and it is they who, if given the chance, would provide bad governance while destroying political morality.

Yosef Yigal Drever and Sylvia Drever co-founded Achdut HaLev in 2006 to reach out to the Jewish community's around the world providing support in learning Torah and promoting the 'Return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel.' Yosef Yigal made Aliya in 2014 while Sylvia his wife is an Israeli. In late 2014 Achdut HaLev concentrated all its resources towards Aliya and the rebuilding of Eretz Yisrael. Excluding none and embracing all. The commandment to settle the Land of Israel is equal in importance to all the Torah Commandments all together: (Sifri Deut 12:29)
